I have always been interested in building things. I think it’s the process of constructing something that fascinates me. It has much in common with art. And it has much in common with music. Being a musician with improvisation as one of my building blocks, I have a lot of experience with constructing and creating. Since I have, up until now, spent most of my time developing as a musician I have had little time to develop my skills at creating and constructing things out of different materials. Sure, there’s been the odd simple furniture and some rudely executed instruments and musical bows. All of them out of a need, and a lack of money. It’s often been easier for me to actually build what I want than to save the money and buy it. And how I started making pipes is no different.
I fell in love with pipe smoking in January 2010, and I fell in love with pipe making a few months later. The need for more and better pipes made me try to make my own. After I finished my first pipe, drilled by myself, and realized it worked and looked somewhat like a pipe, I was hooked! And from then on I have spent most of my time trying to develop as a pipe maker.
I see pipe making as an adventure. With every new pipe I make I learn new things and get better at what I do. Every finished pipe is a finished chapter. These pipes I present here are where I am today, still learning and still developing.
